Abrasive Wheels 
For small hand held cutting/grinding/abrasive tools both electrical and petrol driven.

                                   
This course is designed for persons involved in the use, inspection or mounting of abrasive wheels and is designed to provide training as required under The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98) these regulations supersede the revoked Abrasive Wheels Regulations 1970.

This course is a 4 hour training course consisting of a theory session in a classroom environment and a practical session and covers the following subjects:

  • The Need to Train and Statutory Requirements
  • Types of Abrasive Wheel
  • Methods of Marking, Type, Speed etc.
  • British Standard Marking System
  • Hazards and Precautions to be Taken
  • Storage Handling and transporting
  • Inspection of Abrasive Wheels
  • Functions of Abrasive Wheel Machine Components
  • Mounting of Abrasive Wheels
  • Mounting and Dressing

The instructor will use your own equipment. This gives the advantage of individual operator familiarity.

On completion of the training course each trainee will receive a certificate of attendance.

Candidates can be trained at an instruction ratio of 3:1:1 and 6 candidates can be done in a day. The course is undertaken on your premises. The course is charged at a day rate.

(1) Employers should provide information, instructions and training not only to those who actually use work equipment, but also to employees supervising or managing its use.
(2) There is new ACoP text, to reg 9, covering the competence of chain-saw operators which reflects the desire of industry and HSE to carry forward the original voluntary scheme.
